As much as I like to be in denial about this kind of thing, it turns out I haven’t figured out how to stop time just yet. So…

Oh sweet little BabyMan. We love you so very much and can’t imagine life without you. You are lovey and funny and so sweet. You make the greatest faces and your smooches just melt us. You are smart and determined. It’s crazy to think that we have only had you for 365 days. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be your Mommy and can’t wait to watch you grow.

Some things we want to remember about Luke at ONE:

  • You are so, so chatty. Mama, Dada, and the one Grandpa taught you- Boom! (which actually sounds like “boo”)
  • When you are done eating you let us all know. “Ah-Da” starts out quiet enough but if we don’t respond immediately, it gets louder and louder. AH-DA AH-DA AH-DA (All done all done all done!)
  • No more formula for you. Just whole milk. You are protesting this and have spent hours whining about the lack of bottles. I’m a mean mom. 😉
  • One bottle a day is all you’re getting. Bed time bottle. Otherwise, it’s straight sippy cups for you. You are not impressed, but you’re dealing with it.
  • Sleeping is still not your thing. I’m tired, but you like to play with my hair when you’re up in the middle of the night and give me kisses. You really know how to get your way.
  • Books are your favorite things. Especially books with textures in them. You sit and turn pages and touch them.
  • You’ve never met a tractor you didn’t like. Or maybe it’s just the wheels.
  • You love animals. It doesn’t matter if they are ten times bigger than you, you want to pet it.
  • Your Daddy says you took 4 steps today. I wasn’t there so I refuse to believe it. Moms need to be there to see their babys first steps. End of story.
  • You are the most loved baby on the planet. I’m sure of it. There is not a single person who doesn’t just adore you and your sweet little smile.
  • You have 6 teeth. Almost 8. 4 on top, 2 on bottom with 2 more bottom teeth coming in any minute. That makes for one cheesy smile. Love it.
  • You are still a Mama’s boy. I maybe made you that way, but I don’t care. It’s my favorite thing.
  • You may be all mine, but the minute your Daddy walks in the room, you crawl like mad to get to him. He’s your best friend.
  • Dad and I are cool, but if you want to play, you go to Dylan. He will chase you around the room for hours if it keeps making you laugh. And it usually does. You stop every couple of feet to make sure he’s still chasing you and scream when you see that he his.
  • No more baby food for you. Just big kid food. You’ll eat just about anything. No turkey. Doesn’t matter what we hide it in (Auntie Amanda, you know what I’m saying) you find it and spit it out. It’s funny. Spaghetti is your favorite. You also love fruit and peas, carrots and rutabegas.

Love love love you and can’t get enough of you. Thanks for being ours.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped us to realize our dreams of becoming parents. We are more grateful than you will ever know and we love you.
