It’s Memorial …

It’s Memorial Day Weekend.

Luke is *thisclose* to being 2 1/2

Dylan is almost done with the 6th grade and his summer is full of sports and activites.

This blog gets neglected, because well, who wants to hear about how boring our life is? It is boring in the most perfect way and it’s a boring that I longed for through during our pre-Lucas days. I can get you some bullet points on new things in our lives and cute Luke stories and I’ll throw in some pictures just for good measure.

Luke had another ear infection last week. Holy shit. I mean, what’s a Mom gotta do around here. This one knocked him down for a few days. High fevers that we couldn’t get under control, sleepless nights where he swore there were cows in our room and they were going to bite him. A trip to the doctor during which both of us cried. (That girl was not my favorite doctor ever) . I also got lots of cuddles and I’ll take any chance I can get to have those sweet little arms wrapped around my neck.

He’s in a Daddy phase. Ok, well as much of a Daddy phase as he can be. He wants to be with him and go places with him and is constantly asking where Daddy is and where is Daddy’s truck. It’s cute. Shannon plays with him like only a Dad can and I love him for that. My heart isn’t broken because I’m still the parent of preference for the most part. “You sit by me” and “but I want YOU” are heard frequently. That kid makes me all melty.

We have a sweet new niece who was born May 2nd and I’m so in love with her, it hurts. That girl is so beautiful (just like her Mommy) and surely will be breaking hearts in the near future.

Luke talks a lot and most of it is hilarious. He likes to open our pantry and then he stands with his hands behind his back and repeats “hmmm…what I hab?” (translation: hmmm. what should I have”) He loves his baby cousins and now can say their names for the most part, but we all still call them “Main-in” “Gak-in” and “Kennyann”

Out of nowhere yesterday he told me “My gampa Stan fi-oh fight-oh. Dats bwave. He wubs me” Translation” My Grandpa Stan is a fire fighter. That’s brave. He loves me. Smart boy, it’s all true.

He calls his toenails “ponytails”

He weighs 28 whole pounds now and is 33 inches tall. That puts him in the 12th percentile for height and the 31st for weight. I can’t believe how fast he’s growing.

If you’ve ever seen the movie wedding crashers, then you know exactly why this is so funny to us… He loves to say in this high little voice, while making a devious face “I fiiiind you” to everyone.

A few weeks ago we were in the deli getting Luke’s Auntie Khaki some lunch since she was on bed rest and the One Direction song “What Makes You Beautiful” came on. As soon as he recognized it, his eyes got big and he said “Oh! Dis my jam!!!” and started dancing right there in the middle of the lunch crowd. It was so stinkin’ cute.

If you would have told me in the beginning of this journey that this would be my life, I would have told you that you were crazy. I prayed for an ordinary miracle and oh boy did I get one.

Isn’t she precious?!?
